Sorry it's been a while since my last blog. I haven't felt much like blogging lately. As a matter of fact, I've been in a downright slump lately. I started taking Yasmin, birth control, a few weeks ago and I've been feeling down all the time. I've never considered myself a depressed person, but lately I've had trouble seeing the bright side of anything. I know that I have so many things to be thankful for, but things have just seemed dark. I thought it had to do with the fact that we are in a new place and still finding our niche. Or maybe the fact that I rarely see my husband these days, but today I googled side effects of Yasmin and came across tons of people who had previously been optimists, but after taking the pill became depressed, even suicidal. I'm not that bad, but now I know why I've been so down. Most of the articles said that the depression usually goes away in a few months, but I'm not sure I want to wait it out that long. I'm going to give it a month and if it doesn't get better, I'm definitely switching pills.
Anyway, we went to Abilene this weekend to visit my mom since Adam was on call. We had great big plans to go to the zoo and swim a lot, but Saturday morning we found ourselves in the ER. Jonah was a little bit sick on Friday, but progressively got worse through the night and in the morning he was wheezing terribly and having extreme difficulty breathing. I was very panicked as we rushed to the ER. The doctors took him straight back to a room and gave him a breathing treatment and steroids and he started to get better. It turns out that he has croup. The doctors put him on more steroids for five days and we've been using a humidifier and vaporizer at night. Thankfully he's doing much better now. The weird thing is that Landon ended up in the ER right after his first birthday as well. He had RSV and was hospitalized for two days. So, I've decided that it must be a family tradition we are starting- and an expensive one at that:)

Sorry to hear about little Jonah. I hope he continues his speedy recovery.
As far as the pill goes, I'd get on a new one. I don't know anything about Yasmin, but look at the combination of the hormones and avoid any others with a similar make-up. I tried one of the tri pills (I don't remember the name) a while back and it made me an emotional basket case. Dr. Flood-Shaffer said I should avoid any tri pills because I'd probably have a similar reaction.
I had to switch from regular ortho to the "lo" version a few years back. I could definitely tell a difference! I hope you get the b/c thing firgured out.
Sorry about Jonah. That is always so tough when they aren't feeling well!
So sorry Alisha.....saying some prayers for you. I am glad you mentioned that specific pill. I am about to go back on after being off for about 10 years b/c of breakouts on my face! I am scared to death of ALL the side effects. Sorry about your little Jonah and how your trip turned out! Glad you figured it out though and that he is on his way to recovery. Hope everything starts to look up, tomorrow is a new day!
Zach has the croup now, too. Guess it is going around all over!
Hey! Just saw the blog post today. I'm bringing a group of friends (about 10 girls) home with me this weekend because we're going to the state fair! You should probably stop by if you get the chance to celebrate dad's 53rd birthday! Hope that you feel better soon... those little pills really mess with people's emotions, so I've heard. I will pray for you!
Love you,
Tessa
